The Light Civilization's Soltroopers
The Soltroopers are the giant arachnid suppression units of the Light Civilization. Capable of spinning webs of solidified energy in the sky, these creatures have abilities primarily focused on defense, ranging from plain enemy blocking webs, in the case of Engbelt, the Spydroid, to the incredible power of Bulgluf to construct new shields for its allies entirely. The Soltroopers' focus on defense means that few of them are likely to switch to an attacking role in a battle very often, and even when they do, they are more likely to be directing their attention at the enemy forces than at the shields.
For the most part, these creatures are not particularly powerful in one-on-one combat, despite the great size of Poltalester and Bulgluf. Most of a Soltrooper's body is made up of its long legs, which generally cannot be used as weapons. This leads to a situation in which, normally, the larger a Spydroid is, the less effective it is in combat relative to its size. They are not often seen on the field of battle amongst the Guardians and Initiates, moreso being recruited as defense forces by other Civilizations instead due to their specialties and general nature.
They are generally not aggressive, and are therefore easy to get along with, or in some cases, even control. Often, they will allow themselves to be sacrificed in battle to achieve the greater goal, for a Soltrooper's greatest objective is to aid in the overcoming of the enemy.
